Why use this tool
An IP checker answers two everyday questions: 'what is my IP right now?' and 'where does this IP come from?'. Use it to verify that a VPN or proxy actually switched your exit location, confirm which address your home or office network exposes, debug geo-restricted services, fill in firewall and allowlist rules, or check the origin of an unfamiliar address from your logs. Detection happens server-side from your request itself, and geolocation is resolved against a local IP database on our server — no third-party lookup service is involved.

- How do I check my own IP address?
- Just open the page — your public IP is detected and displayed automatically, along with its location and timezone. Click the copy icon to copy the address.
- Can I look up an IP address that is not mine?
- Yes. Enter any public IP in the search box and click Lookup to see its registered country, region, city, timezone, and approximate coordinates.
- Why is the location not exactly my city?
- IP geolocation is based on where address blocks are registered and routed by ISPs, not GPS. Country-level accuracy is high; city-level is approximate and can point to a nearby city or your ISP's regional hub.
- Does using a VPN change what this tool shows?
- Yes. With a VPN connected you will see the VPN server's IP and location instead of your own — which is exactly how you verify the VPN is working.
- Is my IP address sent to a third party?
- No. Your IP is read server-side from the request itself, and the location is resolved against a local GeoIP database on our own server. No external lookup API receives your address, and the tool keeps no lookup history.
